Larry D. Daugherty, DMD
Dr. Daugherty was raised in McDowell, Kentucky. Eastern Kentucky is where his education began and it was in the 9th grade when he decided that dentistry would be the path he wanted to take for his career due to the positive influence of his dentist at the time. As most Kentuckians, his love for basketball gave him the opportunity to play on scholarship at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College (ABAC) in Tifton, Georgia from 1976 through 1978. During his time in the south, he met his wife of 39 years, Gail Burkett.
After 2 years on a basketball scholarship at ABAC, Dr. Daugherty returned home in 1978 to Kentucky to complete his final 2 years at Eastern Kentucky University. In 1980, Dr. Daugherty completed his bachelor's degree in Pre-Dentistry and then went on to complete his Doctorate in 1984 at the University Of Kentucky College Of Dentistry.
Since, Dr. Daugherty made his career for 30 years in Sylvester, Georgia at a private practice. This is where him and his wife, Gail raised their son, Kevin and their daughter, Laura. Both who are now married and each have 2 children. Currently, Dr. Daugherty lives on St. Simons Island where he practiced dentistry for 2½ years in a private office.
St. Simons is now called home and the Daugherty's love the “island life”. God and family are always number 1 in Dr. Daugherty's books! He adores and loves spending time with his children and grandbabies as much as possible. Living “the island life”, golf, fishing and the beach are some of his favorite past times. Dr. Daugherty enjoys being an active member in the community and loves to find ways to support the local area. Dr. Daugherty has a passion for people and finds dentistry rewarding on all levels of his career.
